![]() Marianne de KleerMarianne is a singer and francophile who enjoys the thrill of working on more than one thing at a time. She grew up in Vancouver B.C., where she studied music and education, with a major in French. While at university she started to become a part of the Vancouver music scene. She sang with musica intima vocal chamber ensemble in Vancouver for sixteen years and was one of the group's founding members. She has also sung with Elektra Women's Choir and the Vancouver Cantata Singers, and has performed with and for other groups such as the Vancouver Chamber Choir, Vancouver New Music, Early Music Vancouver, and various church choirs around Vancouver. After three years of being a French high school teacher, Marianne studied design and worked as an interior designer for a number of years, in addition to freelance singing, translating and marketing. Marianne first fell in love with France when she spent a summer in the French countryside as a teenager. A few years later, she arranged to spend a year in Clermont-Ferrand, where she worked as a nanny and studied at the local university. All this made her love for France grow and she dreamed of one day buying and renovating a place of her own in the countryside. When she met Caitlin, she found a good friend who shared this same love for France, and this dream started to blossom into reality. Since the purchase of the house in May 2000, Marianne has spent every summer at the farmhouse, and in 2009 she permanently moved to France with her husband, Jean-Marc. You can follow Marianne’s adventures in France at her blog. |
